Environmental issues have been at the top of every industry’s agenda for the past 20 years. Fisherprint was one of the first printing companies to attain the FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council Chain of Custody) certification, and we continue to uphold these environmental practices throughout the business today.
Fisherprint were one of the first companies to attain the FSC certification, meaning that we uphold the standards set by the Stewardship Council Chain of Custody for business practices.
Recycling at Fisherprint
We continue to uphold and endorse the best green printing and waste management practices possible throughout our business. We even have an on-site compactor to help us uphold our status as an environmentally responsible printing company.
The on-site compactor allows us to successfully dispose of and recycle any waste produced on site, and also helps us to reduce our carbon emissions . All paper is recycled and all of our printing processes use vegetable-based inks rather than harmful solvents, further showing our dedication to the FSC practices and certification.
These and other eco printing measures have helped Fisherprint to adopt an Environmental Management System that is comparable to ISO 14001.
What is The FSC?
The FSC is an internationally recognised organisation first started in California in 1990 by a group of timber users, traders and representatives of human and environmental organisations concerned about the level of deforestation and the environmental impact of such industries.
It wasn’t until 1992 that the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development – or the Earth Summit – was held in Rio de Janeiro. The UN put in place Agenda 21 and the non-legally binding Forest Principles. In 1994 the FSC was recognised as a legal entity in Mexico.
Since it began, the FSC has progressed steadily throughout the years. The numbers of forest management and chain of custody certificates has continued to rise. In 2011, 20,000 chain of custody certificates were passed, and this number rose to 30,000 in 2016 – a true win in the battle to combat deforestation and other environmental issues.
